The Rescue of Edhelwen
A Fantasy Short Story of Veardalan
Devarim tested his other senses, hoping to discover more. All was quiet except for the faint rustling of a few leaves. He felt nothing in the air. His eyes, however, detected a slight discoloration in the tall brown grasses on the right side of the road, indicating something had passed through. Two parallel tracks cut east—a wagon or cart. Few would have even noticed it. He stalked forward, fearing something was amiss. He knelt down to study the dirt. They swept the road, but he still detected signs of a scuffle. A drop of blood here and there, a woman’s broken button, an overshot arrow in the bushes. The last town had posted warnings of robbers along the road. Devarim checked his twin elfin sabers and kept his war bow in his hand….Moving with the stealth of a lynx, he slinked through the grass, following the tracks.
“Very good. I like the antagonist, TEK….intimidating…hateable…scary at the same time. I was very invested in Edhelwen…I hope you do more with her….Overall, very good. I hope to see more of these characters in the future.”
