Ranger's Calling: The Fires of Wynchell

For fans of Rangers Apprentice and epic fantasy adventure comes the first book in an unforgettable series.

Galieb N’ethilion never expected his first mission as a sworn ranger to determine the fate of a kingdom.

Growing up at the hidden Qoholet Abbey, the young half-elfin trained in archery, tracking, swordplay, and wilderness survival. But when brutal eshkin raiders pour out of the Towering Peaks in numbers never seen before, theoretical knowledge meets harsh reality. Villages burn across the borderlands of Wynchell. Farmers die defending their homes. And something far more sinister lurks among the dead sheep and smoldering farms.

Hired to scout the raids and report back, Galieb quickly finds himself fighting for his life. He faces:

Fierce eshkin warriors wielding crude weapons and serving dark gods
A shapeshifting beast hunting among the villagers
Treacherous assassins waiting for their prey
Battles against impossible odds alongside knights, dwarfin, and elfin allies
Ancient prophecies that warn of darker days ahead

As arrows fly and swords clash in the burning canyons, Galieb discovers that being a ranger means more than skill with a bow. It means standing between innocence and evil. It means making impossible choices. It means discovering a greater purpose beyond himself.
With a reforged sword at his hip and courage born of desperation, the untested ranger must rise to meet the fiery challenges that will either forge him into a legend or destroy him completely.

Rangers Calling review from Clean Fiction magazine Winter 2025

In a culture that often overlooks the virtues of honorable manhood, Ranger’s Calling serves as a refreshing reminder of courage, perseverance, and integrity.

…this novel a must-read.

Through this masterfully crafted tale, Raymond Keith offers more than just an entertaining story—he invites readers into the timeless journey of a boy becoming a man who embraces his calling. “Ranger’s Calling” is a book that lingers in the heart long after the final page, reminding us of the joy found in a story well told.”

“This is one of the better works of this type that I have read. It is good. It is fresh. It is safe to read and enjoyable. It has the feel of a ‘Lord of the Rings’ world, but with a much more localized story.”

The Inn at the Forest's Edge

A quiet stable boy. A charming maiden. And a forbidding forest.

But each is more than it seems.

Johann jumped at the offer to work at a local inn for the summer and to get away from the drudgery of the farm. His enthusiasm only increased when he met the tavern owner’s enchanting niece, Faeyn. It wasn’t long before Johann realized that there was something different about the innkeeper and his sister, not to mention the knife-wielding bard and the heavily scarred steed in the stables. Strangest of all was the ominous VenKeth, a vast labyrinthian forest upon whose shadowy edge the property perched. When the inn is attacked and Faeyn kidnapped, the untested youth must find the courage to venture into the frightful woods with only the mysterious creature from the stables to aid him. Will Johann be able to rescue Faeyn and survive the perils of the VenKeth?

“I thoroughly enjoyed this fairytale and would have read it all in one sitting if I’d not had other responsibilities at the time. In this novelette, Raymond Keith takes readers to a small corner of a fantasy world where, not only are fairytale creatures alive and well, but so are chivalry, courage, and noble deeds. This story is ideal for readers who love fairytales and noblebright fantasy and/or the work of Chuck Black and Wayne Thomas Batson.”

The Rescue of Edhelwen by raymond Keith

The Rescue of Edhelwen

Bandits abuse and enslave. Rangers rescue. Elfin endure.

Victims of a roadside assault interrupt Devarim’s travels. Finding some dead, he soon realizes that the band of forest ruffians may be holding some victims captive. Severely outnumbered, the ranger will need all his skills to overcome the bandits and their ruthless leader.

Edhelwen left her elfin realm to enter the world of humans for the first time only to be taken captivity by cutthroats intent on selling her as a slave. As she wrestles with the idea of a hopeless future, she must not only think of herself. They have also taken a young human girl.

“The Rescue of Edhelwen” is an introduction to the world of Veardalan—an epic adventure of knights and rogues, rangers and goblins, elfin and dwarfin, magic and swords with Christian themes.

“A fast-paced short story following a man who takes upon himself the rescue of two strangers. I appreciated that we got to see a story with clear good and clear evil. Characters show selflessness, even when it costs them dearly.”
