As part of my logo and throughout my website, you will see images of a white stag. A white stag or hart makes appearances in some of my stories as well. You may wonder why.

Legends

Several cultures have legends of the white deer. In Celtic mythology, they were seen as messengers or appeared if a taboo was commited. Others stories speak of them being tempters, luring hunters deep into the wild.  In Authurian legends, the white stag is an elusive creature hard to capture, representing man’s spiritual quest. HIstorically, the white hart was used by King Richard II as a badge of his kingship.

What is the white stag to me?

To me, the white stag is a symbol of the supernatural. When a white stag appears, the characters are about to move from the ordinary to the extraordinary. From the mundane to the marvelous. It is a hint to the reader that something is about to change, and it will be magical, spiritual. Specifically, the white stag in my stories is a servant of the Most High, the Creator, the Self-Existent One. It demonstrates God interacting with His creation. The stag implies providential events are taking place, not just random acts.

When the Lord saved me, my world expanded. The supernatural or spiritual world was no longer an idea or hope. It became reality. Angels and demons and “the living creatures” exist. I think that is why people enjoy quality fantasy. They long for heaven and beauty. I hope my white stag can stir up that longing for the supernatural. For there, I hope to lead them to the glory and beauty of the Lord.
