In the world of Veardalan, petite creatures known as faeries inhabit the VenKeth, a vast ancient and mystical forest east of the Lageheim Kingdom. Threshold Ridge marks the western boundary of the forest, running from the Towering Peaks far to the north down many leagues before invading the Ven Marshes deep in the south.

It was while patrolling the Threshold Ridge along his home in the Hidden Valley that the young ranger, Galieb Half-Elfin, encountered the queen of the faeries.

If you have read my first epic fantasy novel, Ranger’s Calling: The Fires of Wynchell you know of whom I speak. Do you remember her name?

Faeries live in small colonies where all the individuals are female, except for the queen’s consorts. These tiny ladies with dragonfly wings harvest an abundant assortment of mushrooms and other fungi, protecting their queen like bees in a hive. They use weapons of bows, swords and spears tipped with a deadly poison made from the mushrooms. The queen is known to have powerful magic, the only created being able to grant a magical wish. Upon granting the wish, the queen will perish, so she will only fulfill the wish to someone that has proven his worth.
